So what is a lash lift you ask..a lash lift is very similar to a lash perm but with some advancements. 1. Avoid water for the first 48 hours

This is may be the hardest but most beneficial way to extend the life of your lashes. Avoiding water for the first 48 hours after application will give the eyelash extension glue time to bond and strengthen. If you need to have a shower after your appointment make sure you do not face the water directly. Steam from hot water can also disintegrate the glue so lukewarm water is recommended. After the first 48 hours you should use some micellar water to clean your eyelash extensions and face daily.

2. Sleep facing upwards

I love my sleep, so I feel the struggle. If you can manage to sleep facing upwards this can actually prevent accidentally squashing or pulling of your eyelash extensions. Dear Lashes recommends cuddling up inbetween two pillows to prevent any nighttime tossing. If you feel like you are still rolling around during your sleep then there are special pillows on the market that are designed to let you peacefully sleep upwards.

3. Use eyelash extension friendly makeup products

Eyelash extension makeup products come highly recommended for any lash addict. Most makeups contain oil which breaks down eyelash extension glue. If you notice that your lashes are not as curly or pointing in weird directions please use a clean mascara spoolie wand and roll it carefully over your lashes. Sigma Brushes 3DHD Max Kabuki

3DHD Max Front & Side View

The 3DHD Max Kabuki is one of the newest additions to the sigma foundation brush family. It is also my absolute favourite! That is why we are talking about it first. If you watched my video breakdown/demo of these brushes, you would have seen how infatuated I am. It is very similar in shape to the original 3DHD kabuki brush, but much bigger. Being bigger, the bristles are longer, therefore softer. It works well on my sensitive skin, and huge head. I like to apply with one side, and buff with the other. You can also use the pointed tip to blend out right under the eyes, and as it is so soft, it doesn’t tug at the delicate area.

I first tried the 3DHD  Kabuki a few years ago now. I was really baffled, and thought it was a gimmick. As soon as I started working with it, I quickly fell in love. Having the 2 sides means I can apply my foundation with one, and flip it over to buff it in. The point down the center also makes it easy to get into the corners of your nose, and other facial crevices. The bristles are shorter than the Max version, making it denser, and better for full coverage lovers.

The Sigma F83 is a weird looking one. I had to go check out the Sigma website the first time I tried it, because I didn’t quite understand it. It is listed as a foundation brush, however it is your new cream contouring best friend. The curved design makes it foolproof to get a perfectly blended contour, every single time. I didn’t think it would make a massive difference, but check out my video when it goes live, and see how it perfectly applies & blends in seconds.

The Sigma F80 is a cult classic. It has been around the longest, and so many dupes have come out of it. I don’t mind it, but I can’t use it on its own. That is just personal preference, many people absolutely adore it, and won’t use anything else for their foundation. I find that I will still need to go in with a clean buffing brush, or damp sponge just to give an airbrushed finish.

ghd Curve Classic Wave Wand

The ghd Curve Classic Wave wand has a unique oval shaped barrel. Much to my surprise, you can create many different looks with this wand, which will will discuss further down this post. It heats up to 185°C, with a tri-zone technology. This basically means, it is the same temperature the entire way around the wand. The tip is cool, which makes it perfect for those like me who don’t like to wear a heat resistant glove. For those who are just starting out, the wand does come with a glove, which I would recommend using.

1 simple button on the front. Hold to turn on and off. Automatic timer will turn the wand off after 30min of inactivity. Meaning you don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving it on if you go out.

From the side profile you can see the little stand which kicks out from the centre of the wand. This is great because it means that you can have it sitting on a surface and not worry about melting it. Which is good because unlike the platinum, the curve doesn’t come standard with a heat resistant mat/case.

From the top view you can see how the oval shaped barrel looks. It goes from 38mm at its widest, to 26mm at the most narrow.

The ghd curve would create deep hollywood style waves on longer hair. However I have much shorter hair, so wanted to show you how it looks with medium length hair.

I have a complete tutorial over on youtube for this look. It is where I wrapped each section of hair around the wand once only, and slid it back and forth. I thought I would show this technique in a video because it is so easy once you see it, but a little tricky to explain.

This is how it looks once gently brushed out.

The next technique is simple. Just wrap each section flat around the wand from root to tip. Hold for 5-10 seconds depending on your desired look.

This is how the curls look wrapped from base to ends. With all curls going in the same direction.

And brushed out with my fingers.

Personally I love alternating the direction of my curls. This creates more volume, and a more ‘effortless’ look.

One wrap around is my most commonly used technique. Having blonde hair, I don’t like to put direct heat onto my ends all the time. So I find that adding a slight bend in my hair is super effective at making my air dried hair look a little bit more put together.

I adore how universal this wand looks. I wasn’t sure if my hair might be too short for this tool, but it really isn’t. It leaves my hair looking so silky and shiny, and holds the curl all day with very minimal additional product. I would definitely recommend this tool if you are looking for a new curling wand. The Poni Unicorn Chocolate Bronzer is a very flattering shade. I haven’t been using powder bronzers lately as I find creams easier to blend, but I was really happy with how easily this applies. I like to swirl this all over the cheeks for a warm bronzed look. And take the darker side on a smaller brush to contour my cheekbones. I like that the difference in the 2 shades isn’t too extreme, otherwise fair skin people would not be able to use the darker side, and deeper tones wouldn’t be able to use the lighter side. I do find this shade to be quite universal, you can use a light hand or build it up for more intense colour pay off.

Poni Unicorn Champagne Highlighter

The Poni Unicorn Champagne Highlighter was not what I was expecting at all – in the best possible way! When you hear ombre, you instantly think of 2 different shades, perfectly blended in the middle. First look at this highlighter, it looks to be all the one colour. That is because the ombre is in the texture and finish, from subtle every day glow, to intense night on the town highlight. One side is perfect to dust over all the high points for a healthy every day glow. The other side is the most intense. I personally love to just swirl my brush in the entire pan and get a gorgeous champagne sheen.

The Poni Unicorn Candy Blush is a super pigmented powder blush. The ombre in this one is the most obvious to look at. You have a peachy side, perfect for warm toned looks, and a pink side for a more natural flush. You can mix them together for the best of both worlds. I love to use this with a fan brush, because I like a very subtle blush look. With this product, a little goes a long way, so you will be set for a long time with this beauty in your collection.

I think Poni really hit the nail on the head with this collection. As you all know, because I stock them in my salon, I love Poni Cosmetics. There are 3 new primers coming out that will retail for $20 each. First base, an every day primer that contains SPF. Oh my matte! Which is a mattifying primer, for those with oily skin. Bring on bright, an illuminating primer. I have tried out the mattifying primer, which feels very silky smooth when I rub it on the back of my hand.. However with my drier skin type, I can’t say too much about how effective it is. I have tried it on my face once, and it is not a primer you want to rub in, as it starts to set very very quickly, and will ball off. You need to press it into the skin. I am very interested in the sound of the illuminating primer.

The sunlit bronzer will come in 3 shades, light, medium, and dark. It has a subtle light reflecting property, which makes it easier to blend than a matte. I personally prefer creams these days, so struggle a bit with powder bronzers unless they are very light as I am too heavy handed. This is a gorgeous shade though, with lovely packaging, and detail to the actual pressed powder. I am definitely interested in trying the lighter shade, as I feel it will compliment my cream products better. This will be $22

This palette swatches amazingly. The colours seem to be very pigmented. I did experience fall out when swatching, as well as applying to my eyes. For me this isn’t a big deal, as I prefer to do my eyes first so I can be as messy as I like. The bronze shades work well, the purples need more layering as they disappear as they get blended out. This is $45, so still very reasonably priced, but the most expensive from the range.

But I LOVE the mini one to death. My bottom lashes are tiny, and I either smudge mascara everywhere, or don’t get enough on, so they remain invisible. This is my fav mascara for lower lashes. This is $38, for 2 mascaras in 1. The volumizing one is available on its own for only $25, and hope to see the mini one on its own in the future.

Okay, okay, I have a highlighter obsession! So I had to try the 3D Highlighter Palettes from Huda Beauty. The first 2 that came out were the pink sands, which I am reviewing today, and the Golden Sands. They have recently released a new addition as well, the Summer Solstice Highlighter Palette. To be honest, the first time I saw them, I was on the fence – but today I am going to tell you more about them now I have had a good chance to play around.

3D Highlighter Palette Pink Sands

The 3D Highlighter Palette in Pink Sands contains 4 shades. They would all look gorgeous on fair to medium/tan skin tones. For reference I am an NC15 without fake tan, and can get up to an NC30 with a good spray tan. I find I can always get use of this palette in some shape or form, no matter where I am between NC15-30. Capri is a cream formula, and the other 3 are all very soft powders. The directions on the packaging, say to use Capri to ‘prep’ as your base highlighter as it is the cream. As you can see from the picture, I dug at this shade a little, I foud the top layer was a little hard, but underneath is divine. Santorini is designed to ‘Set’ from the cheek to the temples. As you would use a normal highlighter. Azores is the ‘sculpt’ shade, designed to be worn under the cheek bones, aka- where you would contour. Ibiza is the ‘flush’ shade for the apples of your cheeks.

3D Highlighter Palette Swatches – Pink Sands

I am not sure I completely agree with the directions on the 3D Highlighter packaging. I am glad they have come up with ways to use all of the shades, but for me, their suggestions don’t really work. This is how I like to use them.

As you can see from the swatches below, the first shade – Capri, is a gorgeous beige/champagne shade. It looks like it would be too dark to highlight my face with, but has a translucent look when applied with a dense brush. This is one of the few cream highlighters that applies brilliantly over the top of powder. I don’t like how it applies with my fingers, which is usually my preferred way to apply creams.

Santorini is a gorgeous pale white gold shade. It is amazing on my fair skin! It is a little too light for me when I have a tan, so I will mix it with Azores for a light gold highlight. Or Mix with Ibiza for a pale pinky gold highlighter.
Azores is not a good shade for under my cheeks. It tones down my bronzer, and just doesn’t look quite right. It does work with a larger bronzer brush, to add a sheen to the bronzer. Or as a regular highlighter.

Ibiza is a stunning sheer orangy pink. It is designed as a blush topper. But I am not the biggest blush girl, so will often use this on its own, to add a tiny hint of colour to the apples of my cheeks, and a gorgeous luminous sheen.

Is the 3D Highlighter Palette worth the Price Tag?

Oh 100% I can’t believe how insanely pigmented these highlighters are. It is one thing to look gorgeous in person, but to also photograph that way, is another very impressive feature. They draw very little attention to pores or textured skin. I won’t say none, because that’s not how highlighters work. I would put the texture on par with most soft, natural finish highlighters. But this packs way more punch! Most ‘blush topper’ shades I don’t use as they make the larger pores on the apples of my cheeks look obnoxious, but below you can see they just look average.
So yes! I would definitely recommended this Huda Beauty 3D Highlighter Palette.

Jaclyn Hill Palette Swatches

I know many people don’t like finger swatches. But I wanted to show all the Jaclyn Hills Palette shades, and I find most of them apply to the eyes in a rather true to colour way. At the end of the day finger vs. brush doesn’t matter – it is all about how it actually applies on the eyes.

I am going to go through row by row the shades. I feel like each row looks amazing together, and the layout of the shades is pleasing to the eye.

The first row is full of your lightest shades. I find the first 2 to be much too similar, and the 3rd and 4th shade apply very similar to the eye as well. But all in all they seem to apply nicely.

Row 2 of this palette would have to be one of my favourites. The first 5 shades are all gorgeous matte shades, with lots of warmth and depth to them. These are the ones I have been reaching for the most. The last 2 shades are a gorgeous copper and bronze, which look stunning applied to the lids.

Row 3 in the Jaclyn Hill palette would definitely be my next favourite row. It has shades that are going to be flattering on every skin tone. They are all on the warmer side, but slightly more neutral than row 2.

This row is stunning. I definitely don’t reach for the purples a lot – but you can see them in a look I created below. The browns and golds in this row are just everything. The mattes look patchy here, but apply to the eye with such ease.

The final row in the palette is definitely my least used. That’s not because the shades perform badly, they just aren’t my cup of tea. But I have still used them in a look below. You all know – I am a neutral girl.

I wanted to create a few different looks before reviewing this palette so I could be fair. The possibilities are endless with a palette like this – but here are 3 of my favourite looks with the Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe.

Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe – Warm Shades

For this warm look I used shades from rows 2 & 3. This is really my kind of makeup look. I created a more halo or sandwich smokey eye, but you could do so much with these shades.

Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe – Purple Smokey Eye

This look obviously has a tonne of glitter added to it. But I only used the Jaclyn Hill Palette for the actual eye shadows. I used the purples from row 4, and the mattes from row 2, to create this purple smokey eye.

Jaclyn Hill Palette by Morphe – Green Cut Crease

This look was off to a rough start, because I am not great with colour, and I wanted to create something different to my previous 2 looks. It ended up coming full circle and I am really proud of myself. I used the mattes from row 1, and a variety of the shades from row 5 to create this look.

I used shade 2 to cancel out my dark circles, shade 3 to add warmth around the outside of my face, and shade 1 to highlight and brighten the center of my face. It definitely had really good coverage. For all these before and after images I did not set the concealer with powder. I can almost get away with that for this concealer, but it looks much more flawless when set.

You can see how it really cancels out those purple tones under my eyes. Here I used shade 1, but I definitely could have gotten away with shade 2. I only use a really small amount of correcter over my dark circles. Then I would usually follow up with foundation, and a lighter concealer through the centre of my face to create dimension.

Shimmer highlighter makeup

ABH X Nicole Guerrio Glow Kit Swatches

If you want to be shimmering, and shining all over the place.. You need to get your hands on the Anastasia Beverly Hills X Nicole Guerrio Glow Kit. It is more shimmery than her other glow kits. This means it photographs amazingly! I can sometimes struggle to capture the glow on camera, but not with this palette. There are 6 wonderful shades in the palette too, making it super versatile if you like to infrequently tan, or work on a variety of skin tones. Check out my full review here

Liquid highlighter makeup

Liquid highlighter can be difficult for some people to work with. Which is why you need the Cover FX Sunlight Custom Enhancer drops. I could come up with  101 ways to use this beauty. But my favourites would have to be the following.
Mixed in with my foundation to create an all over glow.
Under my foundation for a lit from within  glow.
On top of foundation, on the highest points of the face for intense gleam factor.

Becca Champagne Pop

I couldn’t do a fav highlighters post without mentioning my MOST USED (OMG) one! Champagne Pop by Becca.. You are just everything to me. I love this when I am fake tanned, which is 99% of the time. It has a gorgeous golden sheen to the face, which isn’t too yellow. It has a mix of peach, pink, gold, and of course champagne – making it work for most skin types. Jaclyn Hill, you really nailed it with this one!

Natural highlighter makeup

With a name like Dandelion Twinkle, you can just picture how dainty and gorgeous this highlight will be before even seeing it. It is the newest one by Benefit, and their first powder highlight. If you apply one layer of this it will be so gorgeous and subtle, you will just look like you have a natural radiant glow. However you can definitely still build it up! Even applying it while your setting spray is still drying will give a super intense pop – making it work for day or night time.

LA Lights hollywood & highlight from Smashbox was a random buy, that was totally worth it! It is so easy to work with. Never – not even once, has it made my foundation  patchy. I love to draw it straight on, before setting my face with powder, and then blend with my fingers. Use it alone, or under your favourite powder highlight for a super intense look.
